In order to develop contacts between the heads of the foreign ministries of Russia and Armenia, Sergey Lavrov and Ararat Mirzoyan, consultations were held in Moscow on Thursday between Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin and Armenian Deputy Foreign Minister Mnatsakan Safaryan. This was informed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) of Russia.

“A frank and substantive exchange of views was held on the entire spectrum of matters of bilateral relations, with the aim of thorough preparation and effective implementation of the events planned within the framework of the interstate dialogue. In this context, various aspects of Russian-Armenian cooperation in the political and security, trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian domains, as well as in the domains of interregional exchanges, were discussed. The Russian side noted the need for consistent deepening of partnership in Eurasian integration associations, while taking into account the fundamental transformations of the international situation.

The situation in the South Caucasus and its development prospects were discussed in detail, as well as the possibilities of deepening cooperation between the countries of the region and their neighbors in the format of the 3+3 (Azerbaijan, Armenia, Georgia and Iran, Russia, Turkey) regional cooperation platform.

An agreement was reached to maintain the established dynamics of contacts between foreign policy services, as well as to increase interdepartmental dialogue [between Armenia and Russia].

The consultations were held in an interested, constructive atmosphere," added the Russian MFA statement.
