Russian President Vladimir Putin prayed for Donald Trump after the then-presidential candidate was shot last year, U.S. special envoy Steve Witkoff told reporter Tucker Carlson.

Witkoff told Carlson that during his second meeting with Putin, the Russian president talked about his reaction to Trump's assassination attempt at a campaign rally last summer.

“When the president was shot, he went to a local church, met with the priest, and prayed for the president,” Whitkoff said of Putin.

Putin “was friends with him, and he prayed for his friend,” he explained.

Witkoff added that he passed this sentimental story to Trump, who was “clearly touched”.

During a campaign rally last July, an assassination attempt was made on Donald Trump. He was shot by 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks.
