The United States may resort to military action against Iran under certain circumstances. US Presidential Special Envoy Steven Witkoff said.

“We don't need to resolve all issues militarily, but that doesn't mean that if we are brought to a certain line we won't resort to hostilities, we will do so under certain circumstances,” he said in an interview with Fox News television in response to a related question.

Witkoff added that US President Donald Trump's position is that “Iran should not have a [nuclear] bomb.” “We can't allow them to start building a nuclear arsenal. That must not happen,” the US leader's special envoy pointed out.

On March 7, Trump wrote on his Truth Social page that he had sent a message to Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei proposing talks on Tehran's nuclear program. The Iranian leader, commenting on the US president's statement, emphasized that his country will not engage in dialogue with the US as Washington is only concerned with its own interests. On March 12, Khamenei called Trump's words about readiness for talks a deception of world public opinion.
