The Washington administration positively assesses the talks with representatives of Russia and Ukraine in Saudi Arabia and intends to issue a positive statement soon. This was reported by Reuters on Monday, citing a White House source.

According to them, “the talks being held by the [US President Donald] Trump administration's expert teams in Riyadh are going extremely well,” he said.

“We expect a positive statement to be made soon,” the source added.

On Monday, a meeting between Russian and US representatives in Riyadh ended after more than 12 hours of consultations to discuss issues related to the settlement of the Ukrainian conflict. The Russian delegation at the consultations was headed by Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on International Affairs Grigory Karasin and Advisor to the Director of the Federal Security Service Sergei Beseda. The U.S. delegation included Andrew Peek, senior director for Europe at the National Security Council, Michael Anton, director of political planning at the State Department, as well as members of the offices of special envoy for Ukraine Keith Kellogg and Trump's national security aide Mike Waltz.
