Russia and Armenia have historically maintained strong and friendly relations, and there could not have been any other development. Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova said at the weekly briefing.

"We are neighboring countries, we have deep humanitarian ties, which are natural. This is due to geography, history and the very destiny of our peoples," Zakharova emphasized.

She also noted that there are forces dissatisfied with the friendly relations between Russia and Armenia: "Our position is clearly defined both by the president of the country and doctrinal documents. We are focused on the comprehensive development of relations with Armenia and its people."
