TEL AVIV. – Representatives of Academy, MPs, and public figures stood for the recognition of the Armenian Genocide at the Israeli Knesset. MFA representatives also did not reject the fact of the tragedy. However, there will be no recognition, deputy editor IzRus.co.il Alexandre Goldenstein told Armenian News-NEWS.am correspondent.

“I believe in it,” he told. “The reason is very simple. If the issue was to vote, advisors would have come to the Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu and would have explained him clearly that Israel is not France and the Turkish enmity is worst for us then for Paris.”

Goldenstein stated that majority of the ruling party will vote against the recognition, as they will be told to do so by the PM. The second major party in the coalition “Israel Our Home” will all vote against. This is the reality, he concluded.

Armenian News-NEWS.am earlier informed quoting IzRus, that commission on Education, Culture and Sport at the Knesset will again gather to continue discussions on the recognition of the Armenian Genocide perpetrated by the Ottoman Empire. Head of the commission Alex Miller, Knesset Speaker Reuven Rivlin, parliamentary coalition representative Ze'ev Elkin, MPs, representatives of academic circles, Armenian National Committee (Hay Dat) and Israeli MFA participated in the discussion on Monday. Majority of the representatives, including the Speaker spoke for the recognition.
