The Zhoghovurd newspaper of the Republic of Armenia (RA) writes as follows, in particular: For every transaction or activity in Armenia of Artsakh [(Nagorno-Karabakh)] residents [who have been forcibly displaced to Armenia], it is required to have a passport of the Republic of Armenia, but this passport will become a disaster for the authorities [of Armenia] themselves.

The thing is that the authorities only now, 2 years after the de-Armenianization Artsakh, have realized that Artsakh residents [now residing in Armenia] are a threat in the 2026 parliamentary elections. There is one reason: 70-80 thousand Artsakh [former] residents can simply flop the parliamentary elections.

It turns out that if the 103,674 Artsakh [former] residents remaining in Armenia receive RA citizenship, they will flop the reproduction of the CC [i.e. the ruling Civil Contract Party of Armenia] in the parliamentary elections.

And the authorities [of Armenia], knowing that the issue of citizenship is a primary issue and principle for the Artsakh [former] residents, even require an RA passport to issue a driver's license. But this is not to the liking of the authorities at all. A significant part of the Artsakh [former] residents [living in Armenia] are having problems again for this very reason.

In addition, the authorities [of Armenia] consider them a specific threat, since they believe the political elite of Artsakh will run in the parliamentary elections [in Armenia] and snatch votes.
