We consider it important to engage other countries, in particular, Armenia, in the work of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), Russian ambassador to Armenia Sergey Kopyrkin told reporters on Thursday.

According to him, the SCO plays a very important role in security, and an antiterrorism organization operates within its framework.

“We are currently working on the forming of a comprehensive center for responding to security challenges on the basis of this organization,” Kopyrkin noted.

He considered cooperation with regional organizations, in particular, the CSTO, useful for the SCO.

“Our position is based on the fact that cooperation with the SCO is natural, taking into account the principles by which the organization is guided in its work, the principles of a multipolar world. We will support this in every way, based on the understanding that it will be beneficial for everyone," added the Russian envoy to Armenia.
