If Armenia does not take Vera Aghasyan's body, its fate will be decided by the relevant state authorities of Azerbaijan. Adalat Hasanov, Director General of the Forensic Medical Expertise and Pathological Anatomy Unit of the Ministry of Health of Azerbaijan, stated this in his interview with APA, the latter reports.

“The body of the Armenian woman who died in Khankendi [i.e. the Azerbaijani name for Stepanakert, the capital of Nagorno-Karabakh] is being kept in a reliable place with all the necessary conditions required for this purpose. If Armenia does not take the body, its fate will be determined by the relevant state authorities.

In general, bodies are kept in special refrigerators in morgues. The Forensic Medical Expertise and Pathological Anatomy Unit of the Ministry of Health has such refrigerators in all city and district branches of the [Azerbaijani] republic. The temperature of the refrigerators is regulated by employees. However, refrigerators cannot completely stop the decomposition process in bodies; they can only slow it down. Sometimes additional methods, such as fixation of the body with formalin, may be needed for this purpose," Hasanov noted.

The body of Vera Aghasyan, who was born in 1954, has not yet been transferred to Armenia for unknown reasons.
