The Security Council secretary denies in every way the reports on the buildup of Azerbaijani forces near the Armenian border.

At the press briefing after the Armenian government’s Cabinet meeting Thursday, reporters tried to find out from Armen Grigoryan what is happening on the Armenian border and whether everything will end in military operations.

When asked about the concentration of Azerbaijani forces near the Armenian border, Grigoryan asked where this information came from and advised not to believe these reports.

Grigoryan assured that if there is accurate information, the Armenian Ministry of Defense will definitely present it to the public. He recalled that the ministry regularly refutes the adversary's false claims, and continues to work towards implementing the Armenian party's proposal to the Azerbaijani party to create a mechanism for investigating border incidents.

Regarding the remark that the 44-day war in 2020 also had begun with a series of denials, Grigoryan said, “That’s your assessment.”

“If false information is being disseminated, we are being accused. What? Shouldn’t we dismiss [it]? Armenia will continue to dismiss [it] and insist on creating a mechanism for investigating border incidents,” Grigoryan added.

Returning to the topic of the military buildup, the secretary of the Security Council of Armenia repeated that if there is reliable information, it will be available to the public, and then asked where the reporter got such information from. The reporter assured that the source was reliable.

Grigoryan, however, expressed doubt.

“Ask your person to give you more precise information. I assume that he did not see anything like this because if he had seen [it], our systems would have seen [it], too. If we see a threat to Armenia, we will present [it] to the public,” repeated the secretary of the Security Council of Armenia.
