Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that heads of state and prime ministers from more than 20 are expected to attend the Victory Parade in Moscow on May 9, Interfax reports.

“Now we can say that we expect heads of state and prime ministers of more than 20 countries to celebrate this holiday together with [Russian] President [Vladimir] Putin,” Peskov told reporters on Tuesday.

He stressed that Moscow will be happy to see everyone who is ready to celebrate this “magnificent date” together with Russians.

At the request of reporters, the Russian presidential spokesman commented also on the report that Kyiv has decided to hold a “parade of diplomats” on May 9, who support the current Ukrainian authorities.

"The fact that [Ukrainian President Volodymyr] Zelenskyy does not want to celebrate Victory Day on May 9 is, of course, at least Zelenskyy's disrespect for the memory of his grandfather, which, in fact, is nothing new. But this once again shows that it is precisely the regime that perceives days like May 9 with pain. And this once again emphasizes the rightness of the Russian side, the rightness of President Putin, who is doing what is being done and what needs to be done," Peskov said.
