There can be no talk of any mitigation because we have presented our positions in the Crossroads of Peace project in writing a long time ago; including so that there will not be all kinds of interpretations. This was stated by Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan while speaking with reporters Wednesday.

"And within the framework of that program, we have started work and will continue," he added.

According to Pashinyan, in fact, Armenia has not received a written response to its written proposal to Azerbaijan.

"There are various interpretations. But I again believe that we need to understand the process correctly. Let's say any project has nuances during its implementation. And we need to work on these nuances—and we have from the very beginning. Look, when the author of the question talks about mitigations, within the framework of the Crossroads of Peace project [by the Armenian government] we [i.e. Armenia] have specified that we are ready for simplifications, simplifications of procedures and, in fact, by maintaining four main principles. The first: territorial integrity, sovereignty, jurisdiction, reciprocity. What is reciprocity for? Because now at this phase we are proposing to open the railway link [with Azerbaijan], in particular, on the Horadiz-Yeraskh line where cargo transportation is carried out both from Azerbaijan to Azerbaijan through the territory of Armenia, and from Armenia to Armenia through the territory of Azerbaijan,” the Armenian premier said.

Also, he noted that the Armenian government is ready to go for those solutions right away.

“It is also very important to record that when we [i.e. Armenia] say we are ready for those solutions, we are asking ourselves a question, right? How will our society react to the solutions that we are proposing? If we say with that confidence, it means that, I repeat, due to diplomatic nuances, and until it is agreed, we cannot open everything purely out of correctness, in order not to violate the logic of the work. But if we say that we are ready to go with that logic right today, it means we have a certain confidence that our society, including our population of the enlarged Meghri community, including Syunik Province, including the population of the Republic of Armenia, will also see it and say, ‘Yes, very good. It is a normal compromise.’ And ... it can be mutually acceptable. That is, this is the logic," the Armenian PM added.
