There is a crack between the people and the legal order established in Armenia, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan on Monday said at a conference in Yerevan.

“My assessment has been and continues to be that, during this time, I have only become convinced of it that the crack in that legal order depends on and is also connected with the fact that, in essence, in all constitutional referendums [in Armenia], there has been a certain public perception and conviction that the officially recorded results of constitutional referendums do not express the will of the people, or do not accurately express that will.

I talk about this a lot now in different places when presenting the ideology of the ‘real Armenia.’ This is a very important nuance, and I see a fundamental and deep problem here also in the fact that we have a problem with the organic connection between the people [of Armenia] and the legal order established in the country.

Here, certain cracks have also emerged; and in my opinion, these problems arise, are formed in these cracks. This is an issue that we need to think about. As long as there is a need for such discussions with these emphases and we are conducting these discussions, at least it is evidence of the thing that we [i.e. Armenia] have not reached the point we wanted to reach," the Armenian premier added.
