The names of lawyer Raphael Lemkin and Rear Admiral Louis Dartige du Fournet will be added on the Armenian Genocide Memorial in Yerevan—and in memory of their contribution to the defense of those massacred in the Ottoman Empire. This was stated Monday during a press conference by the director of the Armenian Genocide Museum-Institute, Edita Gzoyan.

“We all know very well Raphael Lemkin’s contribution to the coining of the term ‘genocide,’ the adoption of the [Genocide] Convention. The soil has already been taken from his grave, the official ceremony will take place on June 24.

The next person whose name will be added to the [Armenian Genocide] Memorial [in Yerevan] is French Rear Admiral Louis Dartige du Fournet, who, without waiting for permission from the leaders, made a decision to bring ships closer to Musa Dagh [in 19915] and rescue about 4,000 Armenians," Gzoyan said.
