The Hraparak daily of Armenia writes as follows, in particular: The term of office of Artsakh [(Nagorno-Karabakh)] President [Samvel Shahramanyan] ends on May 21, after which the AR [(Artsakh Republic)] parliament, with the recently made constitutional amendment, can elect a new president, since it is impossible to hold elections for objective reasons.

The main question is who will run for the post of president. Those close to Samvel Shahramanyan have the impression that he has no desire to run, but for the current parliament he is the only acceptable candidate whom the majority of [Artsakh] MPs are ready to vote for.

Let us recall that in the first round of the Artsakh presidential election, 22 votes are needed, and in the second round—17 votes.

Consultations with the public and political circles and may begin in the near future at the Artsakh representation [in Armenia]. If no candidate acceptable to all is found, they must convince Shahramanyan to continue carrying his cross so that the institute does not dissolve.
