Azerbaijan will attempt to use the “testimonies” of some former leaders of Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) against Armenia at international courts. Siranush Sahakyan, president of the International Comparative Law Center and the lawyer representing the Armenian prisoners’ interests at the European Court of Human Rights, stated this in a discussion dedicated to the policy of Armenophobia carried out by the Azerbaijani leadership.

According to the Sahakyan, Azerbaijan’s “trials” against the former leaders of Nagorno-Karabakh are aimed at showing that as if Artsakh did not exist as an independent political entity, and that its leadership followed the instructions of Armenia, which allegedly occupied Nagorno-Karabakh. In other words, the former Nagorno-Karabakh leaders on “trial” in Azerbaijan are being forced to give such testimonies in order to “prove” the puppet regime of Artsakh.

According per Sahakyan, Azerbaijan will attempt to use such “evidence” at international courts. For example, at the Court of Arbitration of the UN, Baku will attempt to prove that as if Armenia had carried out illegal economic activities.
