Financial support will be provided to airlines that will transport passengers from new destinations to Yerevan's Zvartnots and Gyumri's Shirak international airports. This was stated during the Armenian government’s Cabinet session Wednesday by the Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure, Davit Khudatyan, presenting the assistance program aimed at developing Armenia's airline passenger transportation.

“Financial support is provided for each passenger over 2 years old transported by the airline from every new destination and entering Armenia with the following limit: For Gyumri’s Shirak Airport, 15 thousand drams per passenger, for Yerevan’s Zvartnots Airport, 20 thousand drams,” the minister said.

But it is a mandatory condition that the beneficiary company carries out airline passenger transportation in at least one new direction to Gyumri airport. And this financial assistance shall be provided for two years for each new direction.

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, for his part, clarified that any airline that uses this program must operate at least one regular flight to and from Gyumri.

“Any destination that has not previously had landing in Gyumri will be included in this program,” Pashinyan added, in particular.
