The police have currently closed the road leading to the Armenian Genocide Memorial in Yerevan, and are not allowing ordinary citizens to go up to the memorial on the occasion of the 110th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide.

At the moment, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, members of the government, the National Assembly speaker, and many other officials are at the memorial.

“Dear people, go, wait down below until they will allow,” a police officer told the people.

But ordinary citizens are dissatisfied with this situation, and one of them said he could not wait two hours until the road is opened.

“It’s a shame. Who are you protecting from? From women and the elderly? From people who came with flowers, who want to pay tribute to the memory of the canonized [Armenian Genocide] victims?”

The entrance to the memorial is closed to reporters, too.
