French President Emmanuel Macron on Thursday made a post on Twitter on the occasion of the 110th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide.

“The Armenian genocide began 110 years ago. On this April 24, a national day of remembrance, let us remember all the victims and keep their memory alive. Let’s continue to work, in the name of Humanity, for Truth and Justice,” the French president wrote.

On January 29, 2001, France officially recognized the Armenian Genocide committed in the Ottoman Empire in 1915—and which claimed the lives of more than 1.5 million people.
