The UN World Food Programme (WFP)) has run out of its food supplies in the Gaza Strip as border crossings remain closed, the organization said in a statement.

Humanitarian and commercial supplies have not entered Gaza for more than seven weeks as all major border crossings remain closed, the WFP said. It estimates that food prices have risen by 1,400% compared to the time the ceasefire was in force.

The organization delivered its last remaining food supplies to hot food centers in the Gaza Strip on Friday. The food supplies there are expected to run out completely in the coming days. For several weeks, these points have been the only permanent source of food assistance for Gazans, the statement said.

Also, the WFP recalled that on March 31, all 25 bakeries in Gaza working together with the organization were closed down because they ran out of wheat flour and cooking fuel. They noted that more than 116,000 tons of food aid is in humanitarian corridors and ready to be delivered to Gaza as soon as the borders open.
