Condolence messages have been received in Iran after a powerful explosion caused a massive fire at Shahid Rajaee port in Bandar Abbas city in southern Hormozgan province on Saturday, Mehr reported.

According to the latest statistics released by Iranian Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni, who is on a visit to the place where the powerful blast occurred, the death toll from the explosion has risen to 8, while nearly 750 were injured.

The fire is spreading to nearby shipping containers while thousands of firefighters have been dispatched to the area to extinguish the blaze.

Condolences have been reported from Saudi Arabia, Japan, Turkmenistan, Qatar and other countries, which in addition to offering condolences, have offered assistance in fighting the fire.
