Armenian President Vahagn Khachaturyan received Ambassador Vassilis Maragos, Head of the European Union (EU) Delegation to Armenia, Armenian News-NEWS.am was informed by the presidential office.

President Khachaturyan emphasized that Armenia-EU relations have been developing dynamically in recent years, encompassing new formats and domains of cooperation.

Ambassador Maragos, for his part, reaffirmed his commitment to continue making efforts in the strengthening and expanding of the EU-Armenia partnership.

During the meeting, a number of sectoral programs and initiatives being implemented in Armenia with EU support were discussed. Views were exchanged on the potential for cooperation in energy, education, economic development and a number of other sectors, and the opportunities for its implementation.

Also, Ambassador Maragos presented the positive developments in the EU-Armenia visa liberalization process, and highlighted the importance of consistent bilateral work in this regard.

Views on the progress of the EU-Armenia new Partnership Agenda also were exchanged at the meeting.

In addition, the head of the EU Delegation presented to the Armenian president the program of events dedicated to the upcoming Europe Day, emphasizing their inclusive nature and importance, which are aimed at raising the awareness of Armenian citizens and increasing their engagement in EU-Armenia relations.

During the meeting, special attention was paid to reforms aimed at the strengthening of democratic institutions in Armenia, as well as humanitarian and social assistance programs being implemented in the country with EU assistance.

Also, the interlocutors stressed the need to further deepen Armenia-EU cooperation and jointly implement new initiatives.
