Kenyan MP Charles Ong'ondo Were was shot dead in Nairobi, Citizen TV reports.
The incident occurred at an intersection in the Kenyan capital.
Eyewitnesses claim that the two gunmen were on a motorcycle, one of them opened fire at Were—who was in a car—from close range, after which both gunmen fled the scene.
The MP's driver remained alive and was unharmed, which indicates that the gunmen had targeted only the legislator.
Traffic police officers who were nearby witnessed the shooting, but they were unable to stop the gunmen.
Were was taken to a Nairobi hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The motive for this crime remains unknown.
According to the Daily Nation newspaper, about two months ago, Charles Ong'ondo Were had stated that his life was in danger.
