Sanctions against Iran are aimed at disrupting relations between developing countries, but Tehran will withstand Washington's economic pressure, stated the Iranian foreign ministry spokesperson, Esmail Baghaei.

"The official representative of the Iranian foreign ministry strongly condemned the new US sanctions against individuals and legal entities of Iran and a number of other countries, under the pretext of their collaboration with Iran in various economic sectors," Baghaei said in a message posted on the Telegram channel of the Islamic republic's foreign ministry.

He noted that the latest US restrictive measures demonstrate Washington’s wish to “destroy, through economic terrorism, the friendly and legitimate relations between developing countries.”

Baghaei stressed that the imposing of new sanctions against Iran demonstrates “the US authorities’ contradictory approach, the lack of goodwill and seriousness in pursuing diplomacy.”

He noted that the Iranian people “will withstand the policy of intimidation and pressure, using all available means to continue the country’s independent and dignified development.”
