Russia and Azerbaijan continue to work on resolving the status of the Russian House in Baku, and Rossotrudnichestvo is counting on a positive outcome. The head of Rossotrudnichestvo (Federal Agency for the Commonwealth of Independent States Affairs, Compatriots Living Abroad, and International Humanitarian Cooperation of the Russian Federation), Yevgeny Primakov, told this to TASS.

“[Respective] contacts between the [Russian] embassy and the [Azerbaijani] foreign ministry are continuing. This is the work of professional lawyers and people engaged in foreign policy. This is beyond our expertise. The issue of legal status is still being resolved. We are positive. We believe all this should be resolved in a way that satisfies everyone,” Primakov noted, answering a question about the development of the situation around the Russian House in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan.

In February, the leadership of Rossotrudnichestvo announced that it was forced to suspend the activities of the Russian House in Baku in response to the demand of the Azerbaijani foreign ministry and take measures to vacate this premises in the city center. The official reason for this demand was the Russian House in Baku not being registered as a legal entity, which is required by Azerbaijani local legislation.
