The president of the National Armenia, Assembly (NA) of Armenia, Alen Simonyan, remains true to his opinion that the 80th anniversary of the Victory is also our holiday. Simonyan reiterated this while speaking with reporters on Monday.

Simonyan recalled that Armenia laid 300 thousand lives of its sons and daughters on the altar of Victory, and this was a victory against fascism.

Speaking about discontent in the West in this regard, the NA speaker recalled that Western figures themselves have been and are going to Moscow quite actively.

Also, he recalled the contribution of Armenians to the fight against fascism in Europe. Recently, the remains of famous French Armenian resistance fighter Missak Manouchian was reburied in the Pantheon of Paris. This will also be a tribute to the contribution of Manouchian and other members of the Resistance Movement, Simonyan noted.

He added, however, that the decision to whether or not to go to Moscow on Friday to attend the Victory Day anniversary events will be made by Armenian PM Nikol Pashinyan himself.

“But I believe he will attend. It is wrong for me to talk about this,” the NA speaker noted, but added that “at the last moment he [i.e. Pashinyan] may decide not to go.”

Also, Simonyan reminded of the obvious: participation in such large events is another opportunity to communicate with colleagues. For example, the president of Azerbaijan will also go, Alen Simonyan noted.
