There is a revival in economic relations with Azerbaijan after a three-year period of stagnation. Senior Advisor to Iran's Minister of Roads and Urban Development Amin Taraffo said.

"After a series of bilateral meetings and a joint economic commission in February 2025, significant progress has been made in economic and transportation ties. This process accelerated after the Iranian President's visit to Baku in May 2025. The Minister of Roads and Urban Development continues to oversee and develop all areas of bilateral cooperation, especially in trade, energy, oil and gas, banking and transportation, aiming for a marked increase in the volume of trade between the two countries.

The Minister's proposal to establish an Iran-Azerbaijan-Georgia transit corridor, presented during discussions with the President of Azerbaijan, was another breakthrough. The initiative received strong support from Azerbaijani officials. The Minister's efforts are in line with the common membership of Iran, Azerbaijan and Georgia in TRACECA," he noted.
