The Pentagon had suspended arms deliveries to Ukraine for a week in February—and by a verbal order of US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth, reports Reuters.

By verbal order of Hegseth's office, 11 flights carrying artillery shells and other weapons for Ukraine from Delaware Air Force Base and a US airbase in the UAE were canceled.

The order to cancel these flights was given after a meeting between US President Donald Trump and Hegseth and other senior national security officials on January 30.

According to Reuters’ sources, the meeting discussed the possibility of suspending aid to Ukraine, but the US president did not give instructions to stop the supplies.

According to some Reuters sources, Hegseth may have misunderstood the president and given the order without a corresponding order.

The cancelation of these flights cost the US up to $ 2.2 million.

The suspension of deliveries caused concern in Kyiv. The Ukrainian side tried to obtain information through various channels about the reasons, but the US administration only later explained the suspension by domestic politics.

According to reports, senior officials from the Pentagon and the State Department had difficulty explaining the reason for this suspension.
