Qatari Prime Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani held talks with senior Indian and Pakistani officials Wednesday. He held a phone conversation with Indian Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar and spoke separately with Pakistani Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, CNN reports.

In almost identical statements, Al Thani expressed Qatar's deep concern over the situation and reaffirmed Qatar's full support for international efforts to resolve all regional and bilateral outstanding issues through dialogue and peaceful means.

Doha has been active as a mediator recently. Qatar was one of the mediators in the negotiations between Israel and the Palestinian Hamas that led to a temporary ceasefire earlier this year, played a role in the discussions that led to the return of Ukrainian children from Russia, and facilitated the release of an American citizen who spent more than two years in captivity in Afghanistan.
