The Armenian government, at its Cabinet meeting Thursday, approved the convention with Japan for the avoidance of double taxation and the prevention of fiscal evasion and avoidance with respect to income.

The explanation of this decision states that this convention was signed on December 26, 2024 in Yerevan. It establishes, on a reciprocal basis, the conditions and rates for taxation of the main types of income in the country of income received for business circles of the contracting states.

This aforesaid decision stems from the policy directions set out in the fiscal policy section of the 2021-2026 program of the Armenian government, according to which the government will take active steps to expand the geographical scope of double taxation avoidance agreements in order to develop international trade and economic relations.
