Maybe there will be good news on the signing of the peace treaty with Azerbaijan in the near future. Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan stated this in response to a question from the RFE/RL Armenian service.

To the question whether there were negotiations with Baku, and if so, whether they are about Azerbaijan's preconditions, Armenian FM replied: "Everything has been said, in fact, there is no information to update at the moment. Just as we [i.e. Armenia] were ready to start consultations as soon as possible, we are ready now, too. Unfortunately, we are hearing different statements from the Azerbaijani side, there is no progress yet, but there is talk. And as in the case of any negotiations, let's arm ourselves with patience; maybe there will be good news in the near future."

The text of the Armenian-Azerbaijani peace treaty has been agreed upon for about two months, but Baku is demanding that the constitution of Armenia be changed and the OSCE Minsk Group be dissolved in order to sign this treaty.

The Armenian FM, however, did not answer the question of whether Yerevan was currently negotiating with Baku on the aforesaid preconditions.
