The delegations of Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Serbia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan to the OSCE have issued a joint statement on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the victory over Nazism in World War II, informs the Belarusian foreign ministry.

The statement notes, in particular, that the victory over the ideas of racial superiority and misanthropy achieved by the Allied coalition through force of arms has determined the fate of civilization on a planetary scale and cannot be forgotten.

Preserving the historical memory of the tragic events of those years and the heroism of millions of people who fought and died for the peace and prosperity of future generations is a shared duty. Attempts to revise or distort the results of World War II, to diminish the role of participants in the liberation movements of the peoples of the Soviet Union and European countries in the defeat of Nazism are categorically unacceptable, the statement notes

It adds that the efforts to rehabilitate and glorify the Nazis and their accomplices, as well as to deny their war crimes and crimes against humanity are unacceptable.

Also, the aforesaid delegations to the OSCE strongly condemned the destruction and desecration of monuments and burial places of liberators of any nationality who sacrificed their lives on the altar of victory, regardless of where these monuments are located.

Furthermore, these delegations noted the determination of the overwhelming majority of the international community to prevent the repetition of the tragic mistakes of the past and to build the future on the principles of solidarity.

In addition, the aforementioned delegations called on all countries and peoples to pay tribute to those who built the victory in World War II, not to forget the lessons of shared history, and to fully support efforts to combat any manifestations of neo-Nazism and its glorification.

Defeated Nazism must not raise its head again, they stressed in their joint statement.
