Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has sent a congratulatory letter to Pope Leo XIV on his election as the new Roman Catholic pontiff.

The letter, which was publicized by the, PM's office reads as follows:

“Your Holiness, I cordially congratulate you on your election as Holy Roman Pontiff.

I am convinced that your divine mission will contribute to the establishment of peace, fairness and tolerance around the world. I reaffirm Armenia’s commitment to further deepen and develop the Armenia-Holy See interstate relations and existing high-level political dialogue which is based on strong historic ties, shared-origin values and spiritual and Christian cultural heritage.

Taking this occasion, I wish you robust health and success in your noble and humanitarian mission.

Please accept, Your Holiness, the assurances of my highest consideration.”
