I have expectations. I hope that our people have very strong nerves and will not give in to Azerbaijani provocations because those shots aim also to disrupt public peace in our society. Arman Yeghoyan, an MP of the ruling majority Civil Contract Faction and Chair of the Standing Committee on European Integration of the National Assembly (NA) of Armenia, said this at a briefing with reporters at the NA Tuesday—and in response to reporters’ questions regarding the gunfire from the Azerbaijani side.

“I hope that you will not contribute to the disruption of public peace by spreading panic,” Yeghoyan said, addressing reporters, and continued that, for example, they write that such and such Armenian village is being emptied, and children are being taken from school. “Later it turns out that it is about one child, they took [the child] to another school due to some personal circumstances.”

When asked whether he rules out that the residents of border villages in Armenia’s Syunik Province may leave their villages, or transfer their children to other schools as a result of Azerbaijani shootings, Yeghoyan replied that the question was flawed.

“You expect two possible answers from your question: yes, I rule it out, and no, I do not rule it out. If you ask me, ‘Do you rule out that tomorrow is the end of the world?’ I again cannot rule it out. But that does not mean that I predict that tomorrow will be the end of the world,” the Armenian MP noted.
