Republic of Armenia National Assembly (RA NA) Vice President Hakob Arshakyan on Tuesday met with the MPs of the NA of Hungary representing national minorities, the Armenian NA informs.

The RA NA Vice President stated that the strengthening of the relations between Armenia and Hungary is an important goal on the foreign political agenda of the Republic of Armenia. Noting that in the near future the first resident embassy of Armenia will be opened in Budapest, Hakob Arshakyan expressed hope that Hungary also will open a resident representation in Yerevan.

The positive dynamics of bilateral relations was underscored, in terms of mutually beneficial cooperation, the effective use of parliamentary diplomacy potential. In this context, the NA Deputy Speaker highly appreciated the creation of the Friendship Groups in parliaments of the two countries

The NA Vice President noted that the four biggest national minorities have representatives in the National Assembly, which gives an opportunity to raise the community problems and solve them.

“I am confident that, based on shared history, Christian values, and respect for international law, we can further deeper study and realize the potential in political dialogue, economic, and energy sectors, both on bilateral and multilateral platforms,” Hakob Arshakyan documented.

The RA NA Vice President also presented to the guests the regional developments, detailed the essence of the Crossroads of Peace project initiated by the RA Government. Reference was made to the ongoing negotiations on the peace agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan, the immediate and safe return of Armenian hostages being held in Baku was emphasized.

The spokesperson of the Armenian Autonomy Nikogosz Akopjan and the spokesperson of the Serbian Autonomy Alexov Lyubomir in Hungarian parliament presented the scope of their activities and the problems concerning the national minorities.
