US President Donald Trump has said that, if necessary, he is ready to go to Istanbul, Turkey, where the first direct contacts between Russia and Ukraine since 2022 are planned for Thursday.

At a meeting with representatives of the US and Qatari business circles in Doha, Trump said he believes everything will go well for the US with both Russia and Ukraine.

He noted that an average of 5,000 soldiers are killed every week, and they want to see how they  can end this.

The US president said he is considering going to Istanbul, but it is very difficult due to their current busy schedule.

Trump added, however, that if something happens, he will go on Thursday, if necessary, and that their people were already negotiating on the matter.
