A personal meeting between the presidents of Russia and the United States is necessary. However, such negotiations require thorough preparation, Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said at a press briefing—and in response to a question by TASS, the latter reports.

“Such a meeting is certainly necessary,” the Kremlin spox noted. “The summit must be prepared and productive.”

“The summit is always preceded by expert negotiations, consultations and long, intensive preparation, especially if it is about a summit between the presidents of the Russian Federation and the United States of America,” Peskov added.

US President Donald Trump said during his visit to the United Arab Emirates that he intends to meet with Putin as soon as he can arrange such a contact. The White House noted that it expects the talks soon.
