National Assembly speaker Alen Simonyan, speaking to reporters in parliament on Monday, denied rumors about alleged ongoing discussions on the pulling out of the Russian 102nd Military Base in Gyumri, Armenia.

“There is no such thing. Armenia is not discussing the matter of withdrawing the Russian military base,” Simonyan said.

According to him, the fact of discussing this topic is absurd in itself.

“Such an matter is not being discussed and cannot be discussed. Honestly, I don’t even know who is spreading such ‘smart’ ideas,” added the speaker of the Armenian parliament.
