The Hraparak daily of the Republic of Armenia (RA) writes as follows, in particular: Although it was announced weeks ago that Yerevan and Baku had reached an agreement on the text of the peace treaty, and there is already an arrangement in connection with the last two unagreed provisions, Azerbaijan continues to submit new and new demands to Armenia.

And now they are demanding to change the RA coat of arms, remove Mount Ararat from it. Within the framework of the 6th summit of the European Political Community in Tirana, [Armenian PM Nikol] Pashinyan had answered the question of the correspondent of the Azerbaijani public television and announced that the petition addressed to the OSCE on the issue of dissolving the [OSCE] Minsk Group [which was engaged in finding a resolution to the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict] will be made simultaneously with the signing of the peace treaty [between Armenia and Azerbaijan].

Also, he had said that the Constitution of Armenia does not contain territorial claims to any neighbor, and the issue of the compliance of the peace treaty with the country's basic law can only be decided by the Constitutional Court of the given country, after the signing of the treaty.

However, there was a reaction from Baku that the prime minister of Armenia is again attempting to mislead the international community. “Even the coat of arms, which is mentioned in Article 21 of the Constitution of Armenia, reflects Armenia’s territorial claims towards its neighbors,” said the Azerbaijan MFA spokesperson.

This is the third demand which the Azerbaijanis are positing after the [text of the peace] treaty is agreed upon; the previous two were the dissolution of the Minsk Group and changing the Constitution [of Armenia].

According to some information, Pashinyan is ready to make any concessions just to get that piece of paper, named the “peace treaty,” which will not actually guarantee peace, but will become a propaganda banner before the upcoming [parliamentary] elections [in Armenia].
