Azimuth production company, which is included in Rostec State Corporation  of Russia, has supplied Armenia with a VOR/DME 2700 radio beacon, Rostec informed. The equipment was installed near Sisian, Armenia. It will help aircraft navigate in mountainous terrain and in difficult meteorological conditions.

The VOR/DME 2700 ground-based omnidirectional azimuth-telemetry radio beacon is designed to determine the location of an aircraft relative to the installation point. It operates in the very high frequency (VHF) range and can simultaneously track up to 200 aircraft. The equipment is certified by ICAO (International Civil Aviation Organization) as the main means of navigation on air routes, and as additional means during aircraft landing approaches.

The tests of the VOR/DME 2700 have completed in Armenia, and it will enable aircraft to navigate air routes in mountainous terrain and in bad weather conditions, noted Aleksey Galchenkov, Deputy General Director of Azimuth.
