The Zhoghovurd newspaper of the Republic of Armenia (RA) writes as follows, in particular: According to the Zhoghovurd daily’s information, the ruling Civil Contract Party has conducted an internal survey to find out how many votes the [political] forces could collect if snap [parliamentary] elections were held [in Armenia] now.

According to sources, the results have worried the party's leadership. In particular, the indicator collected by RA second president Robert Kocharyan was higher than expected. This is precisely why the aggressive rhetoric against the opposition has sharply increased within the authorities. The attacks, as the sources of the Zhoghovurd daily claim, are coordinated at various levels—from MPs to state officials.

The recent intensification of [PM Nikol Pashinyan’s wife] Anna Hakobyan's harsh and offensive posts against the opposition is also considered within that framework. Let us note that the next four-day NA [(National Assembly)] sessions will begin next week, and they will take place in a tense atmosphere. The authorities' main target will once again be the former ones—in particular, Robert Kocharyan and his family.
