Russia still attaches importance to its allied relations with Armenia, the deep ties between the two peoples. The two countries have created numerous prerequisites in all domains of relations between them, and they should be used to the maximum and wisely, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated in Yerevan, the Armenian capital, on Wednesday.

"We, as before, consider the security sector to be one of the most important directions of our alliance. We [i.e. Russia] are ready to provide every possible assistance in ensuring the defense, sovereignty, and territorial integrity of Armenia.

This year, we celebrate the 30th anniversary of the signing of the agreement on the Russian military base in the territory of the Republic [of Armenia] and the 10th anniversary of the opening of the  Russian-Armenian Center of Humanitarian Response.

Russian border guards continue to serve with Armenian colleagues on the Armenian-Turkish and Armenian-Iranian borders," the Russian FM added.
