Russia is interested in Armenia's active participation in the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov announced at a press conference in the Armenian capital Yerevan Wednesday.
Commenting on the results of the talks with his Armenian counterpart, the Russian FM noted that they spoke about cooperation in the security sector.
"This year marks the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the Russian military base in [Gyumri,] Armenia, which is an important component of ensuring the country's security," Lavrov said, adding that Russia is in favor of close contacts between the military, law enforcement agencies, and security services.
"Everything should be based on the rich experience of previous years. We are interested in Armenia's active participation in the CSTO," Lavrov emphasized.
