By the decision of the Armenian government, the visa regime has been lifted for citizens of Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, and Oman.
“I will call on our business community to prepare for the flows [from the aforesaid countries] and, of course, by working together with our business community, with high quality service, we will ultimately achieve that Armenia’s tourist appeal will increase even more. And in this regard, I want to note that the [Armenian] state is making numerous investments,” economy minister Gevorg Papoyan said during a briefing with reporters after Thursday’s Cabinet meeting of the Armenian government.
“We [i.e. Armenia] completed a program with the World Bank, where huge investments were made in our tourism infrastructure. And we will sign a new loan agreement with the World Bank, under which Armenia will invest $100 million for the development of its tourism infrastructure. In particular, we will invest for Goris [city], we will create the Yeghegis agrocluster in the Yeghegis [rural] community, we will create the Areni wine cluster, we will make large investments in Gyumri [city], Dilijan [city], as a health resort cluster, we are going to make very large investments in Jermuk [city], on the Aparan [city] cluster, on the Dvin [village] cluster, and so on,” added the Armenian minister of economy.
