A Russian citizen has been arrested for preparing an explosion along the route of a military parade in Russia on May 9, the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) reports.

A Russian citizen (born in 2000) was arrested in Kaliningrad, who voluntarily had joined a terrorist organization banned in Russia and planned to carry out a terrorist attack during the celebrations of the 80th anniversary of victory in the Great Patriotic War in World War II, the FSB report says.

It is noted that the criminal, having received an assignment from a Ukrainian coordinator via a Telegram channel, had prepared to detonate an explosive device along the route of a military parade, RIA Novosti reports.

A criminal case has been opened under on charges of aiding terrorist and sabotage activities.

The accused faces up to 20 years in prison.
