President of Armenia Vahagn Khachaturyan received a delegation led by Wang Kun, Director General of the Earthquake Administration of China, the president’s office informs.
The president expressed gratitude for the effective Armenian-Chinese collaboration and investments in the seismic research over the past five years.
Dr. Wang, for his part, noted that this is his first visit to Armenia and he is deeply impressed by the country, as well as by the work of Armenian colleagues and the National Academy of Sciences.
During the meeting, the avenues for expanding Armenian-Chinese cooperation in seismic safety and related domains were discussed.
The importance of scientific and technological advancements in earthquake prediction, as well as general geological research, was emphasized—not only in terms of seismology, but also in their practical significance for the economy, mining industry, and infrastructure development.
The conversation highlighted the importance of data sharing, implementation of joint scientific programs, and specialist training, which would contribute to more effectively addressing the challenges posed by earthquakes.
