Haykak Arshamyan’s agrément has been received and he will soon be appointed Armenian Ambassador to Hungary, Armenian News-NEWS.am has learned.

In order to verify the aforesaid information, Armenian News-NEWS.am contacted Arshamyan, but he did not wish to talk on this topic, stating that he does not comment on reports.

Haykak Arshamyan has been the Executive Director of Hayastan All Armenia Fund since October 2018. Before assuming this position, he was an advisor—from June to October 2018—to Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan.

According to our diplomatic source, Armenian ambassador to Georgia Ashot Smbatyan, who has been concurrently serving as Ambassador to Hungary since 2023, will soon be recalled from the post of Armenian Ambassador to Hungary. Smbatyan’s respective diplomatic residence is in the Georgian capital of Tbilisi, but he periodically travels to Hungarian capital Budapest to attend events or hold official meetings.

Considering that Hungary is of great importance to Armenia as an EU member state, Armenia intends to intensify its diplomatic activities in that country in the near future.
