Attempts are being made to review Armenia's history, identity, and Armenian-Russian relations. This was stated by the Russian ambassador to Armenia, Sergey Kopyrkin, while summing up the results of the Armenology competition held in Yerevan.

According to Kopyrkin, that is why now, more than ever, an objective scientific analysis of what Armenia, the Armenian nation, Armenian identity, and Armenian history are is needed.

"This is all the more important for Russia because many things unite us. The historical and spiritual identities of Armenia and Russia are so closely intertwined that sometimes it is difficult to separate them.

It is important that Armenology is now very popular in Russia. A corresponding chair for teaching Armenian is currently being created at the Institute of Asian and African Countries of Moscow State University. These are the processes that should be supported in every way.

We at the [Russian] embassy [in Armenia] know this very well from our practical work. It is very important for us, and this matter arises every year, that Armenian-speaking diplomats come to us," added the Russian ambassador.
