Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov on Tuesday met with Syed Tariq Fatemi, Special Assistant on Foreign Affairs to the Prime Minister of Pakistan.

The two officials discussed bilateral interaction as well as regional and international security, informs the press service of the Russian foreign ministry.

Fatemi briefed Lavrov on Pakistan’s view of the current situation in Indo-Pakistani relations. In this connection, the Russian FM stressed the importance of a direct dialogue and greater mutual trust between New Delhi and Islamabad.

Also, the interlocutors highlighted the importance of building up joint efforts in the fight against all manifestations of terrorism at international venues, primarily the United Nations and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.
