Turkey and Azerbaijan continue to present new demands to Armenia at various levels. And this time they have been joined by NGOs.

Amin Mammadov, a member of the “Environmental Protection First” NGO coalition, stated during a briefing that the organization he represents demands the immediate closure of the Armenia’s Metsamor Nuclear Power Plant, Azerbaijani media report.

“The main initiator of this effort is the ‘Doga ve Cevre’ Public Association, which operates in Turkiye. Recently, Turkish environmentalists adopted a special declaration at an event in Igdır regarding the harmful activities of the Metsamor Nuclear Power Plant. Armenia does not publish any reports on its mining activities near the border with Azerbaijan. I believe that concrete steps must be taken to stop the operation of this plant,” the Azerbaijani activist said.

To note, US ambassador to Armenia Kristina Kvien visited the Metsamor Nuclear Power Plant the previous day and announced the development of cooperation in this sector.
